Dongsung Pharmaceutical Signs MOU to Develop New Technology Platform for Diabetes Treatment

Dongsung Pharmaceutical (CEO Na Won-gyun) announced on the 6th that it has signed a business agreement with Yakseon Bio, Inje University (Professor Jeong Ok-chan), and Chungbuk National University (Professor An Ji-young) to develop a new technology platform for diabetes treatment.

Through this agreement, each institution will conduct joint research to develop a platform related to diabetes treatment, aiming to present an innovative medical paradigm based on the expertise and technological capabilities of each organization. In particular, they plan to strengthen organic cooperation in the biomedical science industry and explore new possibilities for diabetes treatment through the power of innovative science.

Dongsung Pharmaceutical recently launched ‘Dangbaksa Rice,’ which holds a patent for ‘functional rice that prevents blood sugar rise through insulin activation,’ entering the diabetes food business. ‘Dangbaksa Rice’ is the only chromium yeast rice in Korea and is gaining attention as an optimal alternative for consumers who usually avoid white rice for blood sugar management. Notably, since it is rice developed by a pharmaceutical company, it can be purchased at pharmacies via QR code.

Na Won-gyun, CEO of Dongsung Pharmaceutical, stated, "We are actively seeking category expansion that can create synergy with Dangbaksa Rice. We expect to achieve groundbreaking progress in the field of diabetes management through this MOU signing," adding, "We will accelerate the development of a diabetes management platform with global competitiveness by combining the expertise of each institution."

Meanwhile, Dongsung Pharmaceutical’s new product ‘Dangbaksa Rice’ was launched at over 2,000 pharmacies within two weeks of its release at the end of last year, and simultaneously signed a B2B contract worth 7.8 billion KRW to supply insurance companies.
