"Support for Small Business Owners and Self-Employed Facing Domestic Demand Slump"
The Busan-style ‘Good Payment’ campaign, which involves pre-paying to support small business owners and self-employed individuals struggling with sluggish domestic demand and high interest rates, is set to be launched.
Busan City (Mayor Park Hyung-joon) announced that it will actively promote the private-sector-led ‘Busan-style Good Payment Campaign’ starting in January. This campaign involves pre-paying at nearby stores with a promise to visit the store later to make purchases. It is a win-win consumption movement aimed at stabilizing small business management and revitalizing the local economy.
The campaign will be conducted in two main forms. The first is a relay campaign involving private companies, encouraging private companies in the Busan area to participate in Good Payment every week until February.
On December 19 last year, following the 49th Emergency Economic Measures Meeting, Mayor Park Hyung-joon and other key figures visited Yeongdo Namhang Market as the first participants. Choi Geum-sik, chairman of Sunbo Industry, took the lead as the first participant in the private company campaign and plans to continue the Good Payment at the traditional market in Saha District on the 8th.
The second form of the campaign is a boom-up event encouraging citizen participation, running until April 6. Busan City is promoting participation through its website, where citizens who pre-pay 100,000 won or more at businesses located in Busan, post their receipts and certification photos, and write messages supporting small business owners will receive prizes.
Busan City plans to select about 70 people weekly to award mobile Onnuri gift certificates, and detailed information about the event can be found on the Busan City website.
