In 2025, Opening a New Era of Transformation for Young Yeongdeungpo... Yeongdeungpo-gu Holds New Year's Gathering

Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will hold the ‘2025 New Year Greeting Meeting’ on January 8th at 3 PM at Yeongdeungpo Art Hall to welcome the new year and pledge new hopes together with the residents.

Through the New Year Greeting Meeting, the district will exchange New Year greetings with residents from all walks of life, review the major achievements of the past year, and share the five major administrative goals for 2025 toward a ‘Young Yeongdeungpo.’

In his New Year’s address, Mayor Choi Ho-kwon will specifically introduce the five major administrative goals: ▲ a premium ‘residential and safe city’ with proximity to work ▲ an ‘economic city’ where the younger generation and small business owners can regain vitality ▲ a ‘healthy and healing city’ blending gardens, culture, and sports ▲ a ‘science education city’ nurturing world-class scientific talents ▲ and a ‘welfare city’ where all generations are happy. He plans to present a vision to vigorously leap forward into a ‘Young Yeongdeungpo’ in 2025 together with the residents.

The New Year Greeting Meeting will open with pre-event performances by the Multicultural Peace Arts Group and the Seonyu Elementary School Buk Drum Club, followed by ▲ a video screening of residents’ New Year wishes ▲ the district mayor’s New Year address ▲ and congratulatory performances.

In particular, the New Year wishes video will include the voices of residents, providing an opportunity for close communication with the community.

Last year, the district boldly opened the era of ‘Yeongdeungpo Great Transformation’ toward the next 100 years, marked by the demolition of the Yeongdeungpo Rotary overpass. The long-stalled ‘Goshiwon (small room) village redevelopment project’ has also been accelerated, with compensation and relocation procedures underway. Especially, the ‘Gyeongbu Line railway undergrounding’ project is scheduled to announce the first pilot project for integrated underground railway development early this year. The district plans to actively convey residents’ opinions to Seoul City and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to ensure the prompt advancement of the Gyeongbu Line railway undergrounding.

Alongside this, the district achieved results in enhancing urban competitiveness by actively proposing to Seoul City for ‘semi-industrial area revitalization,’ leading to regulatory reforms and institutional improvements.

Building on these achievements, the district has further solidified the foundation for development toward a ‘City of Hope, Happiness, and Future, Yeongdeungpo.’

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “The driving force behind Yeongdeungpo-gu’s growth and development last year was the interest and support of all residents. In 2025, we will continue to listen carefully to the voices of residents, put them into practice, and do our best to create a hopeful ‘Young Yeongdeungpo’ together with the community.”
