Customized Welfare for Disabled Families Including Childbirth Support, Home Helper Services, and Rehabilitation Services Beyond Childcare Support Fund

Mapo-gu to Provide 100,000 KRW Monthly Childcare Support Allowance for Families with Disabled Members Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, is talking with children at the Korean Woojin School Children's Grand Festival.

Mapo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Gang-su) will officially implement the ‘Childcare Support Fund for Disabled Families’ starting January 2025 to reduce the economic burden on families with disabled members and create a stable childcare environment.

The support targets families raising children aged 2 to under 7 years old who are classified as disabled families under Article 32 of the Disabled Welfare Act.

Applicants must have continuously resided in Mapo-gu for more than one year as of the application date.

This program provides support regardless of income or property standards, allowing many households to benefit.

The childcare support fund provides 100,000 KRW per child per month. The support period starts from the month of application and continues until the month before the child turns 7 years old.

Applications can be made year-round by visiting the local community service center of the applicant’s address and submitting the childcare support fund application form along with a copy of a bankbook in the applicant’s name.

While personal application is the principle, if mobility is difficult, a spouse, direct blood relative, or sibling may apply on behalf of the applicant.

The district office plans to assist eligible families by sending informational brochures and text messages to disabled families whose children are turning 2, ensuring timely participation in the program.

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, stated, “This childcare support fund program will be an important step in reducing the economic burden on disabled families and helping children grow up in a stable environment. We will continue to do our best to create a Mapo-gu without welfare blind spots.”

In addition to the childcare support fund, Mapo-gu operates various welfare programs for disabled families. Through childbirth support funds for disabled families, home helper support projects, and developmental rehabilitation services, the district provides multifaceted support to ensure stable childcare.
