Daejeon Office of Education Issues Administrative Notice for Integration Plan in March 2027
The Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education announced that Daejeon Seongcheon Elementary School, a small-sized school, will be administratively notified of a plan to merge with Daejeon Seongryong Elementary School in March 2027 due to a continued decrease in student enrollment. The notification period will run until the 27th.
The consolidation of Daejeon Seongcheon and Seongryong Elementary Schools was supported by 29 out of 44 parents (65.9%) who participated in a survey conducted by Daejeon Seongcheon Elementary School in December last year, with 44 out of 51 parents (86.3%) responding.
The administrative notice will be conducted for 20 days from the 6th to the 27th, and any citizen or parent with opinions regarding the consolidation of Daejeon Seongcheon Elementary School may submit their feedback.
An official from the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education stated, "The consolidation of Daejeon Seongcheon Elementary School is the first school to be promoted under the Daejeon model for fostering appropriately sized schools," adding, "We will establish detailed implementation plans to ensure that both students and parents of Daejeon Seongcheon and Daejeon Seongryong Elementary Schools are satisfied."
