Method and Procedure Disclosure for Fair and Transparent Assignment
On the 6th, the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education held a public lottery for the assignment reference numbers of new students to general high schools for the second semester at the Jiphyeonsil of the city education office.
At the public lottery for the assignment reference numbers of new general high school students, Cheon Chang-su, the Superintendent of Education, Han Sang-cheol, the Director of Education, two representatives of faculty members, two parent representatives, and two student representatives each drew one number to form an 8-digit number.
Based on the assignment order, the Ulsan Office of Education will allocate 60% of the total successful applicants to general high schools for the 2025 academic year by lottery according to the desired school (20% for the entire school district, 40% for the residential school district).
The remaining 40% will be assigned based on the student's address, considering commuting conditions and distance.
The successful applicants for general high schools will be announced on the 8th. The assignment results are scheduled to be published on the city education office’s website on the 31st.
An official from the Ulsan Office of Education said, “Every year, we hold a public lottery for the reference numbers to help understand the high school assignment process and to increase trust,” adding, “We will strive to ensure a fair and transparent assignment by disclosing the admission assignment methods and procedures.”
