Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province (Governor Jeon Jin-seon) announced on the 6th that it achieved a total of 1,736 donations and raised 188,487,700 KRW through the Hometown Love Donation Program in 2024. This figure represents a 10.1% increase compared to the previous year, with promotional strategies utilizing local specialties identified as the main factor for the growth.
To encourage participation in donations last year, Yangpyeong-gun expanded cooperation with major local organizations and sister autonomous districts. The thank-you gifts, reflecting Yangpyeong’s unique characteristics, received high praise for their quality and practicality, attracting significant interest from donors. In particular, at the end of last year, 10 new thank-you gift suppliers were selected, and from mid-January this year, donors will be offered a wider variety of options. Additionally, through a citizen fund project idea contest event at the end of January and a Lunar New Year donation certification event, the county plans to actively promote the spirit of the Yangpyeong-gun Hometown Love Donation Program as a community effort involving residents both inside and outside the area.
Jeon Jin-seon, Governor of Yangpyeong-gun, stated, “The year 2024 was a meaningful year that brought significant changes to the local community and residents through the first fund project implementation of the Yangpyeong-gun Hometown Love Donation Program,” and added, “In 2025, we will provide tangible benefits that residents can feel through achieving concrete results.”
The Hometown Love Donation Program allows individuals to donate up to 20 million KRW annually to local governments other than their registered address, receiving tax deductions and thank-you gifts worth up to 30% of the donation amount. Donations can be easily made through the Hometown Love e-um website and mobile applications of major banks such as NH Nonghyup Bank, Kookmin Bank, and Shinhan Bank.
Yangpyeong-gun plans to continue raising funds for projects by conducting ongoing promotional campaigns and linking promotions with local festivals, aiming to revitalize the local economy and improve residents’ welfare through various initiatives.
