'Housing Benefit' is a system that supports housing costs by comprehensively considering the recipient's income, housing type, and housing cost burden level. It is divided into rental benefits and repair and maintenance benefits depending on the housing type, and the city plans to support housing benefits with a budget of 43.4 billion KRW this year.

The program targets recipients determined through investigation based on the National Basic Livelihood Security housing benefit selection criteria. Households with an income recognized amount, which reflects the income and converted income from assets of the applying household, at or below 48% of the median income can be guaranteed as housing benefit recipients.

Rental benefits are paid differentially based on the number of household members and income level, with the standard rent as the upper limit, based on the actual rent for households living in jeonse (lump-sum deposit lease) or monthly rent.

Repair and maintenance benefits provide differential support for home repairs according to the aging level of the house for homeowners.

With the increase in the median income standard in 2025, the housing benefit recipient selection criteria will be expanded to △1-person household income recognized amount of 1,148,166 KRW △2-person household 1,887,676 KRW △3-person household 2,412,169 KRW △4-person household 2,926,931 KRW.

Additionally, the upper limit of benefit payments for rental households, the standard rent, will be supported up to △1-person household 281,000 KRW △2-person household 314,000 KRW △3-person household 375,000 KRW △4-person household 433,000 KRW based on the level 2 area standard.

For homeowner households, support is provided according to the aging level of the house, classified as minor repairs (5.9 million KRW, every 3 years), moderate repairs (10.95 million KRW, every 5 years), and major repairs (16.01 million KRW, every 7 years).

Applications can be made by visiting the local community service center or through the online welfare portal, Bokjiro. After income and asset investigations by the Welfare Support Division of the jurisdictional district, and final confirmation by the city housing department, housing benefits can be received.

Yoon Sang-hee, head of the Housing Department, said, “We will actively promote to ensure that no blind spots occur where housing benefit support is not received,” and added, “We will do our best to create a stable housing environment for vulnerable groups and enhance the perception of housing welfare.”
