CES 2025 Best Innovation Awards Swept by Korean Companies Including Samsung

Korean companies achieved remarkable success by winning 7 out of 19 categories of the Best of Innovation Award at CES 2025, the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition.

The CES Innovation Awards, presented by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), recognize leading innovative technologies and products worldwide and are known as the "highest honor at CES." Among these, the Best of Innovation Award highlights the most outstanding technologies and products.


According to the CTA on the 5th (local time), the Korean companies receiving awards this year include large corporations such as Samsung Electronics and SK Telecom, as well as mid-sized companies like Woongjin ThinkBig and various startups. The technologies and companies awarded the Best of Innovation were also introduced at the 'CES Unveiled' event held before the opening ceremony.


Samsung Electronics' wireless earphones, the Galaxy Buds3 Pro, equipped with AI-based real-time voice translation functionality, were praised for opening a new horizon in global communication and received the Best of Innovation Award in the Headphones and Personal Audio category.


SK Telecom won the Best of Innovation Award in the Cybersecurity category with its AI-based financial fraud prevention solution, Scam Vanguard. The solution was highlighted for effectively blocking suspicious messages and calls, presenting an innovative approach to combating financial crime.


Woongjin ThinkBig received the Best of Innovation Award in the AI category for its AI reading platform, BookStory. It was recognized for demonstrating new possibilities in digital education by combining multilingual voice support with visual effects.


In the fintech (finance + technology) sector, GhostPass attracted attention with its on-device biometric payment solution. This technology securely stores biometric information on smartphones and supports remote authentication, achieving both security and convenience, which earned it recognition for innovation.


SupremaAI dominated the Embedded Technology category with its 'Q-Vision Pro.' This technology applies AI to standalone devices such as ATMs to prevent financial crimes like voice phishing and was praised for setting a new standard in financial security.


In the drone sector, NearsLab received the Best of Innovation Award for unveiling a fully unmanned drone emergency dispatch base. This technology was noted for enabling rapid response in emergencies such as disasters and calamities.


A research team from Hanyang University won the Best of Innovation Award in the Digital Health category for the virtual reality-based tinnitus treatment device 'TD Square.' This innovative treatment method using VR technology is expected to offer new hope for overcoming intractable diseases.


According to the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, 76.5% of the award-winning companies were small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups. The number of awardees is expected to increase by the event's start date on the 7th.


The Ministry of SMEs and Startups operates the K-Startup Pavilion within the Eureka Park exhibition hall to support the exhibitions of award-winning companies such as Panesia. KAIST also runs a dedicated booth, assisting the exhibitions of innovation award winners Vernect, Standard Energy, and A2RS. The Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) is exhibiting the technology of Dr. Park Mincheol, head researcher of the Quantum Technology Research Group, titled 'AI-based 2D Single X-ray Image 3D Conversion and Image Quality Enhancement Technology,' which also received an innovation award.
