Domestic e-commerce companies are launching pre-order sales events for Lunar New Year gift sets. They offer special price products and coupons with discount benefits to help consumers who feel burdened by preparing Lunar New Year gifts due to high prices amid the economic downturn.

According to Lotte Shopping's e-commerce platform Lotte On on the 6th, the 'Early Preparation for Lunar New Year Gifts' event will be held until the 12th, offering holiday food products at up to 35% discounted prices. As a pre-order sales event for Lunar New Year gift sets, up to three 7% discount coupons worth up to 50,000 KRW are issued daily, and an additional card payment discount of up to 10% is provided.

Lotte On has significantly increased gift sets centered on processed foods. This targets consumers looking for affordable gift sets that can be stored for a long time. Representative products include Johnsonville gift sets consisting of Spam, tuna, Samjin fish cakes, sausages and army stew, glutinous rice hot dogs, and 'gourmet meal kit' gift sets. The ‘CJ CheilJedang Spam Gift Set’ is priced in the 30,000 KRW range, ‘Samjin Fish Cake NEW Busan 1953 Set No.1 (around 20,000 KRW)’, ‘Johnsonville Lunar New Year Gift Set No.3 (around 50,000 KRW)’, and ‘Hanilgwan BEST Mixed Gift Set (around 100,000 KRW)’ are also available. Lotte On has also prepared a separate section for reasonable ‘cost-effective gift sets’ priced under 30,000 KRW.

Fresh food offerings have been diversified. The variety of citrus fruit sets has been expanded by type, and Korean beef (Hanwoo) product lineups have been broadened from practical sets to 1++ premium lines. Notable products include the ‘Natural Matnam Jeju Cheonhyehyang 2.6kg fruit gift set (around 20,000 KRW)’ and the ‘1+ Grade Hoengseong Hanwoo Home Dining Set No.1 (600g, sirloin + striploin + chuck flap tail, around 120,000 KRW)’.

Card payment discounts of up to 10% are available depending on the card company. A purchase reward event is also underway, returning up to 8% of the payment amount as L.POINT for applicants. Im Tae-min, head of Lotte On’s food team, said, “Since this Lunar New Year is at the beginning of January, processed foods that are easy to share with many acquaintances as New Year greetings are expected to be popular. Especially, using the pre-order sales period allows customers to prepare gift sets with more benefits.”

11st is holding the ‘Lunar New Year Gifts Galore’ event until the 10th, offering holiday gifts at up to 50% discount. During this event, 11st’s best holiday gifts will be available daily in 7 to 9 special deals. Representative products include the ‘Aekyung Gift Set Art Life A’ (2 shampoos, 2 cleansing bars, 4 toothpastes) on the 6th at 9,900 KRW, a 23% discount from the regular price; ‘Kkaebi Farm High-Sugar Jeju Hallabong 2kg (small size)’ on the 7th at 14,930 KRW; and ‘Yeonggwang Beopseongpo Gulbi Set 20 pieces’ on the 9th at 27,120 KRW.
