Gyeonggi-do Deploys 5,459 Personnel and 3,828 Equipment Units for Snow Removal Operations
On the 5th, known as Sohan (小寒), the coldest period in the solar calendar, a heavy snow warning was issued for the northern Gyeonggi region, with a large amount of snow falling.

According to the Seoul Metropolitan Weather Administration, as of 3 p.m. that day, the snowfall amounts were recorded as follows: Paju 12.0 cm, Dongducheon 10.3 cm, Yeoncheon 10.3 cm, Pocheon 9.3 cm, Yangju 7.0 cm, Gapyeong 8.3 cm, Uijeongbu 5.3 cm, Namyangju 5.0 cm, and Goyang 3.9 cm.
Currently, the heavy snow warnings for Dongducheon, Yeoncheon, Pocheon, Gapyeong, Goyang, Yangju, Uijeongbu, and Paju were lifted as of 1 p.m.
The Weather Administration forecasted that wet and heavy snow would fall at a rate of 1 to 3 cm per hour, mainly in eastern and northern Gyeonggi until the morning.
The expected snowfall over the two days from the 5th to the 6th is 3 to 10 cm in northern Gyeonggi, southeastern Gyeonggi, and inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon.
A representative from the Seoul Metropolitan Weather Administration urged, "Due to the heavy snow, please check traffic conditions in advance and thoroughly prepare winter equipment when using vehicles."
Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province announced that on the 5th, when the heavy snow warning was in effect, 5,459 personnel, 3,828 snow removal vehicles, and 20,916 tons of snow removal agents were deployed for snow removal operations.
The province began emergency snow removal operations at level 1 from 10 p.m. the previous day and is currently spreading snow removal agents throughout the entire Gyeonggi area and conducting snow removal on sidewalks and side roads.
