President Yoon Suk-yeol is scheduled to appear in person to testify at the Constitutional Court's impeachment trial, the president's office announced on the 5th.
Yoon's legal team lawyer Yoon Gap-geun stated that "the president plans to attend on an appropriate date to express his opinions."
Earlier, the Constitutional Court held the second preparatory hearing on the 3rd and set the trial schedule for the next month in advance. Five trial dates are scheduled: January 14th, 16th, 21st, 23rd, and February 4th.
According to the Constitutional Court Act, the parties must appear in person for formal hearings. If a party does not appear, the court may conclude the trial and set the next date; if the party fails to appear again at the second date, the trial may proceed without the party.
