The police are continuing their investigation into malicious posts mocking the victims and bereaved families of the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster.
On the 5th, the National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency announced that as of 5 p.m. on the 4th, they had initiated a pre-booking investigation (internal inquiry) into 99 malicious posts mocking the victims and bereaved families of the disaster.
Additionally, the Cyber Crime Investigation Unit of the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency reported that the previous day, they apprehended a man in his 30s, Mr. A, on suspicion of posting defamatory comments related to compensation for the bereaved families of the disaster. Mr. A is facing charges of insult, and the police are conducting further investigations targeting him.
The police stated, "Malicious posts and video content related to the disaster are serious criminal acts," and urged, "Please refrain from posting rumors and malicious content to prevent the bereaved families from suffering further pain."
