Installation of 'Entry and Exit Ramps' for Pedestrians with Mobility Challenges at Dorimcheon, Guro-gu

Guro-gu has installed ramps at the entrances and exits of Dorimcheon to enable pedestrians with mobility challenges, such as people with disabilities and the elderly, to use Dorimcheon safely and conveniently.

The newly installed ramps at Dorimcheon entrances and exits are located at Guro-dong Street Park Five-way Intersection (Dorimcheon-ro towards Sindorim Station), a place with heavy foot traffic from residents of Guro-dong who wish to access Dorimcheon.

Until now, residents in the Guro-dong area had to use stairs to access Dorimcheon. In particular, there have been ongoing complaints about the difficulty of movement for pedestrians with mobility challenges such as people with disabilities, seniors, children, and those using strollers.

In response, the district invested 700 million KRW to install ramps measuring 82 meters in length and 2.2 meters in width.

For safety, the ramp surfaces were made of non-slip materials, and handrails were installed on both sides to ensure safe use.

A Guro-gu official stated, “With the installation of the entrance and exit ramps, people can now visit Dorimcheon more safely and conveniently. We will continue to pay close attention to eliminating any inconveniences in movement and keep improving the pedestrian environment.”

Guro-gu previously installed ramps at three locations, starting with Mokgamcheon Gwangbokgyo Bridge in 2022, followed by Anyangcheon Rose Park and Anyangcheon Water Playground in 2023.
