"Apologies for the accident, but performance bonuses will be paid"... Cheers
Jeju Air's parent company, Aekyung Group, apologizes to the bereaved families on the 4th
On the 4th, executives of the Aekyung Group visited Muan International Airport in Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do, to apologize to the bereaved families regarding a year-end company event held by one of its affiliates during the national mourning period. Aekyung Group is the parent company of Jeju Air and had been focusing on managing the aftermath of the Muan Jeju Air aircraft disaster.
On the same day at Muan Airport, Go Jun, CEO of AK Holdings, the holding company of Aekyung Group, apologized to the bereaved families concerning the year-end event held by one of Aekyung Group’s affiliates on December 31. Standing before the families gathered on the second floor of the waiting hall, CEO Go stated, "The hotel where the year-end party was held is operated under contract by an external agency, but the management responsibility clearly lies with us, especially with me," and admitted, "All reports about the prize events and other matters that took place there are true."

He said, "I came here with a heavy heart to apologize," and bowed his head, saying, "All responsibility lies with me as the person managing Aekyung Group’s operations, and I deeply apologize once again." CEO Go also stated that he would take full responsibility if such an incident recurs in the future.
The bereaved families silently observed CEO Go’s apology and soon left the venue. There were no family members who protested or raised their voices. Earlier, the family representatives of the Jeju Air disaster passengers had officially requested an apology from Aekyung Group regarding the event.
On December 31, two days after the disaster and during the national mourning period, one of Aekyung Group’s affiliates held a year-end party at a 4-star hotel in Paldal-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, at 3 p.m. Attendees laughed and cheered during birthday events and rice cake cake-cutting, drawing criticism. When the general manager announced, "Given the current situation and the Jeju Air incident, we apologize to you all, but we have decided to pay performance bonuses," employees reportedly applauded.
