"Check 'Deungbon' and Criminal Record Certificate as well"
A job posting that set the hourly wage at 15,000 won for a part-time job involving helping children get home from school, taking care of them, and doing housework is receiving heavy criticism.
Recently, on the second-hand trading platform Danggeun, a part-time job posting titled "After-school or academy pickup and child care" was uploaded. The poster, Mr. A, explained the job duties: "You need to ventilate and clean the house at 1 PM. Remove dust from shelves and window frames, sweep and mop the floor," and added, "You just need to shake out blankets and pillows in the dryer, wash the dishes and put them away, and fold only the laundry in the dryer."
He continued, "After the child's academy ends, you pick them up around 3 to 3:30 PM and bring them home. It's a 10-minute walk," and added, "If the school has a fourth period, you bring the child home at 1 PM, then take them to the academy by 2 PM, do housework until about 3:30 PM, and then pick them up again." Furthermore, after bringing the child home, the job requires giving them a shower, cooking dinner and feeding them, cleaning up after the meal, and washing the dishes. Only after vacuuming and mopping with a mop can you leave work.
Mr. A stated, "I am looking for someone who can work for more than a year. I would prefer not to be contacted by those who make excuses to quit, frequently skip work, or ask for special consideration," emphasizing, "This is work, so I prefer someone who can clearly separate work and personal matters. I don't like people who cross the line with unsolicited advice." He also wrote, "I refuse those who show irritation or bad attitudes to the child, those who only play on their phones or sleep," and added, "I want someone who communicates well with the child and likes children. I want someone who does not impose religion on the child." Mr. A especially mentioned, "I am looking for someone like a grandmother to be with us."
Mr. A said, "I hope you are good at cooking. Neither the child nor I can eat spicy or salty food. I prefer someone who cooks well without MSG and without making the food too stimulating," and added, "I will check identity verification documents such as family register, criminal record certificate, and resident registration card. Since there are many CCTVs in the house due to child care, only those who are okay with this should apply."
One netizen who saw this wrote, "The reason such posts keep appearing despite being criticized for lacking conscience is that they target elderly women who desperately need the money, even if it means enduring unreasonable labor intensity and being treated like slaves," expressing anger, "We may scoff at it, but those who cannot get hired for other part-time jobs apply for this, so they seem to keep posting regardless of criticism." Other netizens responded with comments like "Are they recruiting slaves?", "Nowadays, even just school pick-up and drop-off pays 15,000 won per hour. This is robbery level," "What do they mean by wanting someone like a grandmother while saying they distinguish between work and personal matters?", and "Please tell me this is a lie."
