On this day, Seo Jae-jo, Director of the Senior and Disabled Welfare Division, Choi Hae-gon, Chair of the Welfare and Environment Committee of the Pohang City Council, along with related department staff and representatives from the company conducting the basic planning and feasibility study for the Pohang City Memorial Park, attended to inspect the memorial park site and exchanged opinions for the successful promotion of the project.

The city is currently conducting a basic planning and feasibility study for the memorial park, setting a concrete vision to develop it as a dignified cultural space that can represent Pohang.

The Pohang City Memorial Park is planned to be developed not only as a funeral facility to honor the deceased but also as a healing space that provides emotional comfort to citizens and a dignified memorial area that coexists with nature.

By establishing themed park projects such as funeral facilities, contemplative forests, trekking courses around the park, and cultural spaces, the city plans to accelerate efforts to create a ‘premium funeral culture park’ that offers warm consolation and comfort to all visitors.

Choi Hae-gon, Chair of the Welfare and Environment Committee of the Pohang City Council, stated, “The Pohang City Memorial Park will go beyond a simple funeral facility to comfort the hearts of Pohang citizens and become a new local landmark,” adding, “The City Council will also actively support its successful establishment.”

Seo Jae-jo, Director of the Senior and Disabled Welfare Division, said, “The ongoing basic planning and feasibility study is an important process to set the direction so that the memorial park becomes a space truly needed by citizens,” and added, “We will do our best to create a premium memorial park that citizens can empathize with and cherish, based on a systematic plan.”
