Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 3rd that it sold a total of 4,141,791 vehicles worldwide last year, including 705,010 units domestically and 3,436,781 units overseas.
Compared to 2023, domestic sales decreased by 7.5%, while overseas sales decreased by 0.5%.
The best-selling Hyundai models in Korea were the Santa Fe with 77,161 units, Grandeur with 71,656 units, Porter with 69,267 units, and Sonata with 57,355 units. By fuel type, electric vehicles sold 43,802 units, down 27% from the previous year, whereas hybrids recorded sales of 154,421 units, an 11% increase.
A Hyundai official explained, "This is the result of improving the sales mix focused on high value-added models through expanding the sales regions of key new models such as the Tucson and Casper electric vehicles and strengthening the eco-friendly vehicle lineup, as well as achieving the highest sales volume in the key North American market."
This year, Hyundai plans to strengthen the sales base of eco-friendly vehicles including hybrids (HEV), enhance market responsiveness through full-scale expansion of local production systems in North America, establish a crisis response system by strengthening proactive risk management, and promote manufacturing innovation centered on a flexible multi-model production system along with profitability-focused business operations.
Hyundai set its global sales target for this year at 4,174,000 units, 1.6% lower than last year's target. The domestic target is 710,000 units, and overseas sales are expected to be around 3,464,000 units.
