Dongducheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Park Hyeong-deok) announced on the 3rd that from this month, applications and submissions for the ‘June 25 War Veterans Allowance’ for national merit recipients can be made at the administrative welfare centers of their registered addresses.
In December last year, Dongducheon City established the June 25 War Veterans Allowance in accordance with the 'Ordinance on the Treatment and Support for National Merit Recipients in Dongducheon City.'
The city will pay 210,000 KRW monthly to June 25 War Veterans from the month of application, and 150,000 KRW monthly to the spouses of deceased veterans.
However, if the applicant is already receiving the Honorary Veterans Allowance, duplicate payments are not allowed. Those receiving the Honorary Veterans Allowance who wish to switch to the June 25 War Veterans Allowance must submit a separate application form.
Mayor Park Hyeong-deok of Dongducheon City stated, “On the 75th anniversary of the June 25 War, we established the June 25 War Veterans Allowance because the benefits for national merit recipients who sacrificed for the country were somewhat insufficient.”
