Achieving 118% of the 2024 target of 400 million KRW
Making a significant contribution to revitalizing the local economy
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced on the 3rd that the 2024 Hometown Love Donation Fund has reached 473 million KRW, exceeding the initial target by 118%.
In particular, active on-site promotions and self-hosted events targeting the holiday and year-end seasons significantly increased donors contributing 100,000 KRW. The total number of donors was about 4,570, with five individuals donating the highest amount of 5 million KRW. Donations of 100,000 KRW accounted for 89% of the total donations, and donations from those born in the 1970s to 1990s made up 85%, demonstrating that a culture of donation is taking root among the economically active population.
Among the thank-you gifts, mobile Changwon Love Gift Certificates, Korean pork belly (Handon Samgyeopsal), Merchiban short-sleeve T-shirts, eco-friendly kiwis, and eco-friendly rice received great responses from donors. The Changwon Love Gift Certificate, a local currency, can be used at Zero Pay registered businesses within Changwon, contributing to regional revitalization. The Merchiban short-sleeve T-shirts from the local youth brand sparked interest and fun among young people due to the Changwon dialect. Various other eco-friendly local agricultural and marine products also gained popularity.
Kim Chang-woo, head of the Taxation Division, stated, “We were able to exceed the target amount thanks to the interest and love for Changwon. Starting this year, we will transparently promote three designated donation projects unique to Changwon Special City: saving the Jinhae cherry blossoms, supporting the Masan Daejong, and assisting Jinhae naval soldiers, to show a Changwon Special City created together with donors.”
