GreenPlus Signs 4.5 Billion KRW Contract for Youth Smart Farm Project

Under these smart farm contracts, a state-of-the-art greenhouse smart farm will be established on 1,656 pyeong of farmland located in Sangju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do for cucumber cultivation, and on 3,262 pyeong of farmland in Naju-si, Jeollanam-do for cherry tomato cultivation. The contract amounts are 1.5 billion KRW and 3 billion KRW respectively, totaling 4.5 billion KRW. GreenPlus conducts smart farm design by analyzing crop characteristics, regional climate, and client requirements. Construction is carried out using materials manufactured in-house through domestic production processes.

Notably, the parties involved in these contracts are graduates of the Sangju and Goheung Smart Farm Innovation Valleys, who are young farmers leading the smart farm sector. In particular, the Sangju Smart Farm Innovation Valley is a project for which GreenPlus was responsible from design to construction, creating a virtuous cycle where young farmers who completed the training choose GreenPlus smart farms.

GreenPlus provides smart farm technology and equipment to support their startups and successful agricultural management, helping Innovation Valley graduates establish themselves as key players in the smart farm industry. This goes beyond mere technical support, representing a meaningful case of a company providing a stable agricultural foundation to young people with limited farming experience.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, various support measures have been expanded from this year to encourage youth agricultural startups. Along with the expansion of farming settlement support funds and relaxation of income criteria, policies providing the necessary foundation for startups will be implemented. Additionally, through various facilities supporting youth startups and research such as the ▲Smart Farm Innovation Valley Demonstration Complex ▲Green Bio Venture Campus ▲Food Tech Research Support Center, active assistance is provided for young people entering the agricultural sector.

Jung Soon-tae, CEO of GreenPlus, said, “We are expanding smart farm establishment projects, which were previously centered on the public sector, into the private sector in earnest,” and added, “We will continue to strengthen support so that young farmers like the Smart Farm Innovation Valley graduates can establish a stable income base and lead the smart farm industry.”
