‘Daily Gratitude’ Pays Off... Ulsan Office of Education Saved 2.7 Billion KRW from 91 Budget Cases Last Year

Preventing Waste and Mismanagement in Advance, Enhancing Administrative Reliability

311 Routine Audits Over 3 Years Save Over 9.5 Billion Won

The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 3rd that it conducted 91 routine audits last year, saving a budget of 2.734 billion KRW.


Over the past three years, 311 routine audits have been conducted, achieving a budget saving of 9.52578 billion KRW. By year, 78 audits saved 1.15578 billion KRW in 2022, and 142 audits saved 5.636 billion KRW in 2023.


Routine audits are a system that reviews the necessity, legality, and validity before the execution of major projects, providing objective opinions. They prevent deficiencies or waste in the project implementation process in advance, enhance the effectiveness of audits, and secure administrative reliability.


Last year, the Ulsan Office of Education completed 91 routine audits in the facilities sector (construction, design, construction management services) with 70 cases, service and goods procurement with 20 cases, and acquisition of public property with 1 case.


In particular, in the facilities sector, errors in various rates and quantity calculations in cost estimates, discrepancies between drawings and specifications were identified and corrected in advance to prevent budget waste and minimize design changes, thereby enhancing administrative reliability.


The Ulsan Office of Education also shortened the audit processing period to within 5 days as much as possible to contribute to the rapid execution of the budget and help revitalize the local economy.


Auditor Kim Kyung-hee said, “We will continue to block waste of budget and administrative resources in advance through thorough routine audits and improve the efficiency of budget management.”
