Tuition Support for Elementary, Middle, and High School Students on a First-Come, First-Served Basis

Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) announced on the 3rd that it will support the tuition fees for native English speaker online English learning this year to reduce private education expenses and improve students' English skills.

The support targets elementary, middle, and high school students whose registered residence is in Gangseo-gu. Tuition fees of 10,000 KRW will be supported for the first 180 students per term on a first-come, first-served basis, and full tuition fees will be supported for the first 40 low-income students.

The classes are conducted as real-time video lectures where one native English instructor converses with one or three students. Tuition fees vary depending on the class format, and each term (a total of 6 terms) runs for 2 months.

Additionally, students can review the lessons conducted in the native English speaker online classes for free with a Korean instructor, and customized learning based on level tests is also provided.

Previously, since 2023, the district signed business agreements with online English education companies Geonwoo Edu Co., Ltd. and E&Os Co., Ltd. to provide the ‘Native English Speaker Online English Learning’ program for elementary, middle, and high school students and residents in the district.

Especially this year, a separate budget of 11 million KRW has been allocated to support part of the tuition fees not only for socially disadvantaged students but also for general students, providing high-quality conversation classes at a low cost.

Applications for tuition fee support are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis every even month and can be made on the native English speaker online English learning website. Detailed information about tuition fees and more can be found on the Gangseo-gu Office website under Gangseo News - Notices/News.

Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, “I hope the Gangseo-gu native English speaker online English learning program will help improve students’ language skills and ease the educational expenses burden on families,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to strengthen students’ global competencies through various educational programs.”
