Na Kyung-won Accused of 'Inciting Rebellion': "Gagging Me? No Way"

Democratic Party Files Charges of 'Rebellion Incitement' Against Kwon Seong-dong, Yoon Sang-hyun, Na Kyung-won, and Others

Na Kyung-won, a member of the People Power Party, responded to being accused of inciting rebellion by the Democratic Party by saying, "You want to put a gag in my mouth? No way."

On the 2nd, Na posted on her Facebook, "Inciting rebellion? It must have hurt to hear about due process. The Democratic Party's 29 impeachment attempts and accusations of parliamentary dictatorship must be quite embarrassing," she said.

She emphasized, "Regardless of the constitutionality of martial law, procedures must be followed. That is democracy and the rule of law." She continued, "Is this something the crime-defending Democratic Party should be talking about?" and criticized, "The Democratic Party, obsessed with making Lee Jae-myung president as a power-type criminal, intends to remove all obstacles to a swift impeachment." Na said, "The more they do this, the more the public's conviction that Lee Jae-myung must never become president will strengthen."

Na also stated on Facebook the previous day, "During the impeachment phase, the destruction of law is occurring in another area: impeachment procedures and the judicial system," emphasizing, "The principle of due process is one of the most important constitutional values." She added, "Many procedures with constitutional debates are being carried out very unconstitutionally under the guise of public opinion. Now even the investigation procedures are like this. Investigating a sitting president is a historic event. However, the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) ? whose authority to investigate is disputed ? requested and obtained a warrant from a judge in the Uri Law Research Association, even though serious cases are generally judged by the same court." She said, "It is neither fair nor honest. In short, it is a trick. The destruction of procedures is the destruction of democracy. It must be corrected."

Earlier, the Democratic Party filed a complaint with the National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters on the same day against eight ruling party lawmakers and local councilors and four YouTubers for 'inciting rebellion.' The People Power Party politicians reported by the Democratic Party include floor leader Kwon Seong-dong, and lawmakers Yoon Sang-hyun, Na Kyung-won, and Park Sang-ung; Seoul city councilor Park Jung-hwa; Busan city councilors Park Jong-cheol and Jeong Chae-sook; and Ulsan city councilor Hong Yoo-jun. YouTubers Bae Seung-hee, Go Seong-guk, Lee Bong-gyu, and Seong Chang-gyeong were also included in the complaint.

The Democratic Party's 'Special Committee for Overcoming Rebellion and National Stability' stated at a National Assembly press conference at the Communication Office, "Acts such as inciting rebellion and defending the leader of the rebellion, President Yoon Seok-youl, fall under the crime of inciting rebellion according to Article 90, Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Act." They added, "Recently, forces openly advocating that 'martial law is justified,' justifying rebellion, opposing President Yoon's impeachment, and spreading the distorted logic that 'impeachment is rebellion' are rampant." The special committee emphasized, "Since the crime of inciting and instigating rebellion has no statute of limitations, we will hold them legally accountable no matter how long it takes."
