The Democratic Party's Special Committee for Overcoming Rebellion and National Stability (Overcoming Rebellion Special Committee) held a press conference on the 2nd at the National Assembly Communication Office in Yeouido, Seoul, announcing that they will file a complaint with the National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters against Floor Leader Kwon, People Power Party lawmakers Yoon Sang-hyun, Na Kyung-won, Park Sang-ung, People Power Party Seoul City Council member Park Jung-hwa, People Power Party Busan City Council members Park Jong-cheol and Jeong Chae-sook, People Power Party Ulsan City Council member Hong Yoo-jun, and conservative YouTubers Bae Seung-hee, Go Seong-guk, Lee Bong-gyu, and Sung Chang-kyung on charges of inciting rebellion.
The Overcoming Rebellion Special Committee explained the reason for the complaint, stating, "Recently, forces that justify acts of rebellion and oppose the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol, spreading the distorted logic that 'impeachment is equivalent to rebellion,' have been rampant. Acts supporting the rebellion and the ringleader of the rebellion, President Yoon, constitute the crime of inciting rebellion." After the press conference, Democratic Party lawmaker Yang Moon-seok met with reporters and emphasized, "They distorted the facts by claiming there is a problem with the impeachment and continued malicious commentary based on distorted facts. This is not freedom of the press but incitement to rebellion and riot."
The Democratic Party also plans to continue filing complaints against the head of the Presidential Security Service and others who refuse to comply with search and seizure or arrest warrants issued by investigative agencies. Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Hyun said, "We will proceed with filing complaints against the head of the Presidential Security Service, who is obstructing the arrest of President Yoon, sometime next week." Democratic Party lawmaker Lee Yong-woo explained, "If incitement to rebellion is confirmed among the accused, additional complaints may be filed. We want to prevent recurrence and hold them accountable."
The Democratic Party intends to continue filing complaints if acts constituting incitement to rebellion are found on online communities, social networking services (SNS), and other platforms. The Overcoming Rebellion Special Committee stated, "The Democratic Party's Falsehood and Fabrication Monitoring Team will never tolerate acts of incitement and agitation of rebellion. We will closely monitor not only YouTube channels but also online communities, comments, and SNS, and will relentlessly pursue and strongly file complaints against all acts threatening democracy."
