Visit to Community-Based Business Sites
Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam, actively engaged in livelihood administration from the first day of the new year to energize the citizens.
On the 2nd, Mayor Hong visited sites of community-oriented projects including ▲ installation of a railroad crossing between Seongjusa Station Transfer Center and Anmin-dong ▲ creation of a barefoot walking trail at the Inland Water Environment Ecological Park ▲ construction of a future-type transfer center at Masan Station.
Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, visited the Inland Water Environment Ecological Park as his first schedule of the new year.
After the opening ceremony, Mayor Hong immediately moved to inspect the completion site of the railroad crossing between Seongjusa Station Transfer Center and Anmin-dong. Until now, nearby residents had the inconvenience of having to take a detour despite being able to go directly from Seongjusa Station Transfer Center to the Seongju-dong Administrative Welfare Center intersection bus stop, but the railroad crossing installation will simplify passage and city bus use. This crossing installation is especially meaningful as there have been many resident requests over the past few years.
After touring the site, Mayor Hong said, “It is good that residents’ inconveniences are resolved, but pedestrian safety must be secured above all else,” and urged, “Please prioritize safety by collaborating with related organizations such as the Railroad Corporation.”
Next, he visited the barefoot walking trail construction site at the Jinhae Inland Water Environment Ecological Park. As a barefoot walking trail gaining recent attention, various opinions were reflected in the design through a resident briefing session before construction. The 700-meter-long trail around the reservoir harmonizes with the beautiful scenery of the Inland Water Environment Ecological Park and is expected to become a new tourist attraction in Changwon.
Finally, Mayor Hong visited the site of the future-type transfer center construction project at Masan Station to receive a progress report. This project was selected as a pilot project in the 2023 Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport contest and is scheduled for completion in 2028. It focuses on improving traffic congestion and the environment at Masan Station Plaza, connecting all public transportation modes three-dimensionally, and linking with nearby commercial districts to create a transfer center that serves as a hub of regional vitality. Mayor Hong also ordered smooth progress, noting that the future-type transfer center is attracting attention as a key base for future transportation innovation.
Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, “Based on the discovery of community-oriented projects, we will double our momentum and focus on livelihood administration directly connected to citizens’ lives, implementing city governance that citizens can feel,” adding, “We will accumulate small but certain changes to make 2025 a year of great leaps in daily life.”
