Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Kang Jun-seok) announced that it held the awards ceremony for the ‘2024 Innovation and Excellence Competition’ at the 2025 New Year’s ceremony held on the 2nd.
In the competition held last December, a total of 23 departments submitted 74 cases divided into innovation, management, and business fields.
As a result of the evaluation, in the innovation field, ▲ the introduction of a quadruped walking robot using smart sensors to improve the safety management system at confined construction sites ▲ the establishment of an integrated transshipment monitoring system applying blockchain technology to advance Busan Port’s digital platform each received the grand prize and the excellence award, respectively.
In the management field, ▲ winning the grand prize at the US LACP Spotlight Awards (world’s No. 1) for ESG management ▲ receiving the Presidential Citation for co-growth with local communities and port-related SMEs ▲ efforts for work-family balance and gender equality to overcome the low birthrate crisis were recognized as remarkable achievements.
In the business field, ▲ eco-friendly construction recycling achievements such as the use of port-specialized recycled aggregates and patent applications for quality assurance ▲ excellent cases of strengthening communication with target customers to respond to uncertainties in the external trade environment and attracting cargo volume based on shipping and port analysis information were selected.
BPA President Kang Jun-seok said, “The competition was a meaningful event to summarize the efforts and results of the authority in 2024 and to inform the public and various stakeholders of the excellent achievements,” adding, “In 2025, all executives and employees will double their innovation efforts to enhance the competitiveness of Busan Port.”
