National Fencing Team Member Oh Sangwook Donates 10 Million Won to Hometown Love Fund

The first top donor of the 2025 Daejeon Hometown Love Donation Program has emerged.

The honor goes to fencing national team member Oh Sangwook, a hero of the Paris Olympics and a native of Daejeon. On the 2nd, Oh visited Daejeon City Hall and donated 10 million won, stating, "This is a small gesture to give back to the citizens of Daejeon who have always supported me."

The 10 million won donated by Oh Sangwook is the highest amount since the Daejeon Hometown Love Donation Program was launched three years ago.

Lee Jangwoo, Mayor of Daejeon, said, "Oh Sangwook's love for his hometown is truly at a national team level," and added, "I ask that you continue to do your best this year for Daejeon and the Republic of Korea."

Starting this year, individuals can donate up to 20 million won to the Hometown Love Donation Program and receive tax deductions as well as gifts worth 30% of the donation amount. Donations up to 100,000 won are fully tax-deductible, and amounts exceeding 100,000 won are eligible for a 16.5% deduction.
