Since the hometown love donation system started in January 2023, a total of 213 million KRW has been donated to Gyeonggi-do, and on the first day of the new year, broadcaster Hyun Young became the first donor of this year's Gyeonggi-do hometown love donation system.
The hometown love donation system allows individuals to donate to their hometown or any desired local government area, excluding the municipality where they currently reside.
The donations are used in various fields such as welfare enhancement in the hometown region, youth support, and promotion of culture and arts. Donors can receive various benefits such as tax deductions and local specialty products depending on the donation amount.

Hyun Young, who also serves as a promotional ambassador for Gyeonggi-do, said, "I wanted to contribute even a little to the development of my hometown, so I decided to participate in the donation. I hope everyone will be happy in the new year."
Kim Sang-soo, Director of the Gyeonggi-do Autonomous Administration Bureau, stated, "I hope more residents and citizens participate in the hometown love donation system to create an opportunity to practice the value of regional development and sharing. We will actively reflect the intentions of donors through transparent and efficient management of donation funds."
The hometown love donation can be made online through the Hometown Love e-um website (ilovegohyang.go.kr).
According to the amendment of the ‘Hometown Love Donation Act,’ starting this year, the annual donation limit per individual has been raised from 5 million KRW to 20 million KRW. As for donation benefits, donations up to 100,000 KRW are fully tax-deductible, and 16.5% of the amount exceeding that is deductible. Return gifts are provided within 30% of the donation amount.
