Following the achievement of 1.23 million domestic viewers and recently ranking first in the Netflix film category, the movie ‘Sarang-ui Hatchuping,’ the fantasy musical ‘Sarang-ui Hatchuping,’ directed by illusionist Lee Eungyul, will be unveiled on the 8th.
The fantasy musical ‘Sarang-ui Hatchuping’ plans to introduce a new genre of fantasy musicals by utilizing fantastic magic direction, instant costume changes, shadow plays imbued with analog sensibility, and Tiny Ping puppets (puppet objects) produced with holograms and large structures.
Additionally, with magical flying effects directly produced by the Las Vegas magic team and the combination of magical effects directed by the illusionist himself, fans’ anticipation is further heightened by the news that the vivid scenes from the animated film can be experienced directly on an offline stage.
Illusionist Lee Eungyul, who directed the fantasy musical ‘Sarang-ui Hatchuping,’ said, “The genre of illusion has the strength of actively stimulating the audience’s imagination through magical or analog direction and expression.” He added, “In the musical ‘Sarang-ui Hatchuping,’ you will be able to witness magical scene directions that break down the boundaries between imagination and reality right before your eyes by utilizing the unique illusion know-how accumulated through experience.”
Moreover, the fantasy musical ‘Sarang-ui Hatchuping’ is gaining attention for being the first to utilize the ‘puppet (puppet object)’ directing technique. ‘Puppet’ is a new genre where actors responsible for the movements of character dolls perform directly on stage, delicately expressing the inner emotions of the characters.
Illusionist Lee Eungyul said, “In the musical ‘Sarang-ui Hatchuping,’ we attempted the directorial shift called puppet (puppet object) for the first time to emphasize the characteristics of the Tiny Ping characters, which are smaller than humans.” He added, “With various puppets specially produced for this musical, you will be able to feel another illusion through the new movements and expressions of the Tiny Ping characters.”
Meanwhile, the original film ‘Sarang-ui Hatchuping,’ on which the fantasy musical is based, has been climbing the charts again after ranking first in the film category following its Netflix release on the 30th of last month. This resurgence of the film ‘Sarang-ui Hatchuping’ is expected to have a synergistic effect on the success of the musical ‘Sarang-ui Hatchuping.’
