On the 2nd, the Seosan City Council in South Chungcheong Province held its 2025 New Year's kick-off ceremony at the council's main chamber and officially began its work for the year.
The ceremony was attended by about 40 people, including Chairman Cho Dongsik, council members, and staff of the council secretariat. It began with a moment of silence for the victims and bereaved families of the Muan Airport passenger plane disaster and the victims of the Gopado car ferry capsizing accident, followed by the chairman's New Year's address, a commemorative photo session, and New Year's greetings exchanged between members and staff.
In his New Year's address, Chairman Cho Dongsik stated, "As we begin the new year in a calm and solemn atmosphere during the nation's third-ever official mourning period, I want to note that although we have worked tirelessly to improve citizens' welfare and quality of life, the remaining year and a half is a crucial period to bring our legislative activities to fruition."
He further emphasized, "Only through healthy checks and communication with the executive branch, and by amplifying the council's voice to represent our citizens, can we earn even greater trust from the public."
Meanwhile, the 9th Seosan City Council, under the slogan "A Warm Seosan City Council Together with Citizens," plans to hold a total of nine council sessions this year, starting with the 301st extraordinary session on the 20th, followed by two regular sessions and seven extraordinary sessions.
