Rapid Project Implementation... Ensuring Maximum Project Effectiveness
Paju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 2nd that it secured a total of 27.3 billion KRW, including 4.1 billion KRW from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s special grant for the second half of the year and 23.2 billion KRW from Gyeonggi Province’s special adjustment grant, on the 31st of last month.
Despite difficult financial conditions such as two consecutive years of national tax deficits due to the economic slowdown in Gyeonggi Province, Paju City has been making efforts to secure funds from special grants and special adjustment grants to ensure the smooth promotion of local economic revitalization and disaster safety management projects.
The secured funds will be used as project costs for 44 projects that need to be rapidly promoted in 2025. In particular, many projects in the field of local infrastructure are included. Representative projects include the construction of a plaza parking lot on Geumjeong 22-gil to improve parking conditions at Geumchon Unification Market, a long-standing wish of local merchants (5 billion KRW), repair of the Geumchon 2-dong public parking lot (1 billion KRW), and construction of the Munsan Administrative Welfare Center parking lot (700 million KRW). Projects to improve road environments throughout Paju, such as the expansion of Gochanggyo Bridge (1.79 billion KRW), are also included.
In the field of culture and sports facilities, project costs have been secured for the installation of LED electronic display boards and sound systems at Munsan Sports Park (960 million KRW), repair of the artificial rock climbing wall at Unjeong Health Park (540 million KRW), facility improvements at the Court Library (480 million KRW), and the creation of an urban forest in Yadang-dong (800 million KRW).
In the area of local safety, 1 billion KRW has been secured for the installation of a temporary drainage pump station in Yadang-dong to prevent flooding in flood-prone areas. Funds have also been allocated for the repair and reinforcement of the Giwatdol Underpass (600 million KRW), slope maintenance work at the Yulgok Arboretum Visitor Center (300 million KRW), and installation of a submersible pump in Paju 1-ri (200 million KRW), ensuring resources for resident safety.
Additionally, 1 billion KRW has been secured for the construction of a complex cultural center in the Publishing Culture Information Industrial Complex, and 1 billion KRW for the construction of a complex center for Munsan Health Branch and the Senior Welfare Center. These additional funds for large-scale public facility construction projects are expected to smoothly achieve the goal of completion within 2025.
Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju City stated, “In a time when citizen safety and recovery of the people’s economy are more important than ever due to issues such as the Obul Balloon, Daenam Broadcasting, and political instability, we have been able to secure precious funds that can resolve citizens’ inconveniences and ensure safety.” He added, “We will promptly proceed with the secured funds to ensure that citizens can feel the effects of the projects as quickly as possible.”
