Dongducheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Park Hyung-deok) held a New Year's opening ceremony on the 2nd at the city hall's main conference room to welcome the year 2025, the Year of Eulsa (乙巳年).

The opening ceremony was originally planned to be held at the Citizens' Hall as an event with the participation of citizens. However, due to the national mourning period following the Jeju Air passenger plane accident, the performance was canceled, and the event was simplified and held with only public officials in attendance.


At the ceremony, Mayor Park Hyung-deok of Dongducheon emphasized in his New Year's address, "The year 2025 will be a year to heal past wounds and lay the foundation for a new leap forward," adding, "Let us, citizens and public officials together, create a bright future for Dongducheon with goals of economic revitalization, welfare enhancement, educational development, improvement of living conditions, and tourism promotion."


He also presented the city's administrative directions with key goals including ▲completion of the first phase of the national industrial complex development project and job creation through attracting resident companies ▲strengthening the operation of the youth startup support center ▲establishing a customized education system following the selection as a pilot area for educational development special zones ▲promotion of the GTX-C line extension project to Dongducheon ▲improvement of living environments within the city, demonstrating a commitment to developing Dongducheon into a sustainable city.


Mayor Park Hyung-deok urged, "I hope all public officials will continue to place citizens at the center of their work," and added, "Let us work together so that Dongducheon can be reborn as a city full of hope and vitality in 2025."
