Goryeong-gun announced on the 2nd that it has opened the Disabled Welfare Center, fulfilling the long-standing wishes of local people with disabilities.
The Goryeong-gun Disabled Welfare Center began basic and detailed design in November 2022, started construction in June 2023, and completed a building with a total floor area of 1,034.7㎡, consisting of one basement floor and three above-ground floors, on December 18 last year. It signed an operation agreement as a branch with the Gyeongsangbuk-do Comprehensive Disabled Welfare Center and assigned four staff members.
The Goryeong-gun Disabled Welfare Center is equipped with various facilities accessible to people with disabilities, such as a rehabilitation exercise room, fitness room, and informatization room, as well as facilities for disability education projects, including a vocational training room and lifelong education program room.
Lee Nam-cheol, the mayor of Goryeong-gun, said, “The Goryeong-gun Disabled Welfare Center is an institution designated as a social welfare facility subject to the Social Welfare Services Act and supervised by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. It is expected to be a great facility not only for the many registered disabled people in Goryeong-gun but also for the general residents.”
Song Eun-sook, the branch director of the Disabled Welfare Center, said, “Together with three staff members, I will do my best to make this a facility that is truly necessary for the disabled people of Goryeong-gun.”
