Holding the Opening Ceremony: "Military Personnel and Officials Must Unite and Wisely Overcome Difficulties"
Kim Dongon, the governor of Cheongyang County in South Chungcheong Province, stated on the 2nd, "This year is the Year of the Blue Snake, symbolizing change and wisdom. I hope it will be a year filled with luck and happiness for all residents."
At the New Year's kick-off ceremony held at the Grand Auditorium of the Cultural Center, Governor Kim cited the 'Sangsansase' from Sun Tzu's Art of War, saying, "Residents and public officials must unite, cooperate organically, and wisely overcome challenges together."
He further urged, "Let us combine our efforts so that Cheongyang County can move forward on the path of change and growth in the Year of the Blue Snake."
As major achievements from last year, he listed: △Attracting the South Chungcheong Forest Resources Research Institute to Cheongyang County △Completion of the 119 Complex Town △Establishment of the Cheongyang-style Integrated Care System △Creation of a general industrial complex.
Governor Kim said, "Although there were difficulties last year, such as the promotion of the Jicheon Dam construction along with the development of Cheongyang County, we aim to overcome obstacles through communication with the residents." He emphasized, "Regarding the construction of the Jicheon Dam, Cheongyang County has made it clear that it cannot support the dam construction, judging that the Ministry of Environment's countermeasures are insufficient."
He then presented five main administrative goals for this year: △Improvement of residential conditions and increase in agricultural income △Expansion of welfare for all generations △Revitalization of tourism and local communities.
Key projects include: △Improving residential conditions through the creation of a general industrial complex and securing additional emergency and inpatient rooms at the health and medical center △Enhancing agricultural competitiveness through the development of the Hyang Jinju brand and operation of a smart mountain product distribution center △Establishing a welfare environment for all residents through the operation of a care bus and Happiness Nuri Center △Strengthening the tourism infrastructure with the completion of the South Chungcheong Social Economy Innovation Town △Enhancing resident autonomy capabilities and promoting the Hometown Love Donation Program.
