Boryeong City, South Chungcheong Province, announced on the 2nd that it has opened the Seongju Bypass Road (National Route 40), which was constructed with a total project cost of 62.9 billion KRW.
The Seongju Bypass Road connects Eupnae-ri in Nampo-myeon to Dohwadam-ri in Misan-myeon. The total length is 5.28 km, including the 1.6 km Okdong Tunnel, and it is a two-lane road with a width ranging from 10.5 meters to 19.5 meters. Construction began in March 2018, and the road has opened after seven years.
The city expects that the opening of the Seongju Bypass Road will reduce travel time by eight minutes and improve accessibility between regions.
In addition, as the road connects the southern and outer areas, it is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance the efficiency of logistics transportation.
Mayor Kim Dongil stated, "With the opening of the Seongju Bypass Road, citizens can now enjoy a more convenient transportation environment," and added, "We will continue to expand safe and efficient transportation infrastructure."
