DeepMind Signs MOU with Korea Advanced Materials to Develop Quantum-Resistant Encryption for Defense Drones

DeepMind Platform (hereinafter DeepMind) is partnering with Korea Advanced Materials to develop a quantum cryptography system to enhance the security of defense drones.

On the 2nd, DeepMind announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Korea Advanced Materials for the joint development of a quantum-resistant cryptography system for defense drones by integrating quantum technology. This agreement aims to develop technology that will drastically strengthen the security of drone communications.

A company representative explained, “While conventional drone communications use radio wave wavelengths or amplitudes, quantum cryptography transmits signals by utilizing the polarization and phase difference of photons, providing robust security against potential cyberattacks.”

The development of a quantum cryptography system for defense drones is absolutely necessary to proactively respond to cyber battlefield risks.

DeepMind aims to integrate Korea Advanced Materials’ quantum cryptography technology into defense drones to develop a quantum-resistant cryptography system that can provide high reliability and security in communications between drones and ground control towers.

To this end, they will develop security module chips for both software and hardware to securely protect the communication control of drones on missions and prevent the hijacking and neutralization of military drones caused by cyberattacks.

A DeepMind representative emphasized, “Through this collaboration, we will further enhance the communication security of defense drones and provide the high reliability and security essential for military operations. The technology jointly developed by the two companies has the potential to become a game changer in the military drone market.”

Building on this MOU, the two companies plan to advance their quantum cryptography-based technology and expand their business into various application fields, including defense drones.
