Goyang City Holds Awards Ceremony for Outstanding Proposers and Contributors to Proposal Activation

Greatly Enhancing Citizen Convenience and Administrative Efficiency with Outstanding Proposals
'Small Suggestions, Big Changes'... Selected as the Nation's Best Institution

Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 2nd that it held the ‘Outstanding Proposer and Proposal Activation Merit Award Ceremony’ at the Open Mayor’s Office in Goyang City Hall on the 30th of last month.

This award ceremony was organized to encourage proposers selected for the 2024 Central Outstanding Proposals, contributors to the activation of the Living Empathy Policy, and Goyang City’s own outstanding proposers, as well as to widely promote excellent proposals.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety selects and awards ‘Central Outstanding Proposals’ annually to promote proposal culture and spread best practices. This year, a proposal by a Goyang City public official titled ‘Measures to Improve Collection Rate Using the Private Vehicle Residual Value Excess Cancellation System’ was selected for the Encouragement Award and received a commendation from the Minister of the Interior and Safety.

Additionally, Kim Moon-seok, a member of the 9th Living Empathy Policy Participation Group who identifies and improves small inconveniences in daily life, received a commendation from the Minister of the Interior and Safety, while Park Soon-ok and Lee Kyung-hye received commendations from the Governor of Gyeonggi Province, being recognized as contributors to the activation of the Living Empathy Policy.

Furthermore, awards were also presented for one Bronze Prize and six Encouragement Awards selected as Goyang City’s own outstanding proposals based on the results of the 2nd Goyang City Proposal Review Committee held in November 2024. Among these outstanding proposals, three cases involved ‘self-work improvement’ where public officials innovatively improved their own tasks.

The highest-scoring proposal among Goyang City’s own outstanding proposals for the second half of 2024 was submitted by Park Ji-yoon, an administrative officer in the Transportation Administration Division of Ilsanseo-gu: ▲Acceptance of statements regarding parking violation fines using Google Forms (Bronze Prize, prize money of 1 million KRW).

Officer Park Ji-yoon said, “I proposed this to improve inconveniences I felt during work, and I am very proud to have achieved such a good result,” adding, “I am very pleased that my small proposal has enhanced convenience for citizens and minimized administrative waste in handling civil complaints.”

Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City said, “I heard the news that Goyang City received the Prime Minister’s Award in the 2024 Proposal Activation Excellent Institution Evaluation,” and congratulated the awardees, saying, “This great achievement was possible thanks to the brilliant ideas and passion of the citizens and public officials here.”
