Gyeonggi Province will invest 7.4 billion KRW by 2029 to develop carbon-neutral water management technologies, including digital operation of water and sewage facilities and wastewater treatment utilizing renewable energy.
On the 2nd, Gyeonggi Province announced that it has established the "3rd Five-Year Implementation Plan for Water Management Technology Development and Water Industry Promotion (2025-2029)" containing these details.
This plan focuses on supporting the sustainable growth of water companies in the province based on the vision of "Gyeonggi Province Water Companies Leading Carbon Neutrality (Net Zero)," and strengthening global competitiveness through the development of carbon-neutral technologies and expansion into overseas markets.
The 3rd implementation plan includes four major strategies and 15 unit projects: ▲focused support in the carbon-neutral technology sector ▲advancement of support systems ▲strategic support for overseas expansion ▲strengthening water industry expertise and activating networks. The required budget is 7.4 billion KRW.
Byomgyu Pyo, Director of the Water and Sewage Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "This 3rd implementation plan is a clear execution blueprint for water management and water industry development in Gyeonggi Province, laying the foundation for the province's water industry to be recognized not only domestically but also in the global market. We will contribute to water welfare and environmental improvement that residents can feel."
According to this implementation plan, Gyeonggi Province will establish annual execution plans and strengthen cooperation with the private sector to promote key projects.
