Yeongdeungpo-gu Receives 'Family-Friendly Institution' Certification for the Fourth Consecutive Time

Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it has been selected as an excellent institution in the ‘2024 Family-Friendly Institution Certification Review’ hosted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, achieving certification for the fourth consecutive time.

The family-friendly certification is a certification system awarded to companies and public institutions that exemplary operate family-friendly systems such as childbirth and childcare support and flexible working hours.

Since receiving its first certification in 2016, the district has extended the validity period and undergone re-certification, obtaining its second re-certification this year, maintaining certification status until November 2027.

This is the result of the district’s continuous efforts to create a family-friendly working environment where employees can harmoniously balance family and work.

In this certification review, the district received high evaluations for actively operating childbirth and childcare support systems such as ▲childcare leave ▲reduced working hours during childcare periods ▲pre- and post-childbirth leave, creating a work environment where employees can balance work and family without burden.

In particular, it showed excellent performance in ▲the utilization rate of childcare leave or reduced working hours by female workers ▲the employment retention rate of male and female workers after childcare leave and pre- and post-childbirth leave.

Additionally, by actively encouraging family care leave and vacation systems to alleviate caregiving burdens, and supporting active family leisure activities through the operation of resorts and special leave such as birthday leave, the district supports family well-being. Especially, designating every Friday as ‘Family Love Day’ encourages employees to spend more time with their families, continuously striving to balance work and family life.

Various welfare systems are also being implemented to enhance employees’ health and life satisfaction. Through ▲health checkups and support for infertility treatment costs ▲operation of fitness centers ▲company sports clubs ▲customized self-development expense support, the district carefully manages employees’ physical and mental health, contributing to creating a more efficient and happy working environment.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “A family-friendly workplace culture is a key factor in increasing employee job satisfaction and work efficiency,” and added, “We will continue to expand various family-friendly systems that harmonize work and family to create a working environment where employees can work happily.”
