[Gwangju Bar Association Provides Legal Support to Families of Aircraft Crash Victims]

The Gwangju Bar Association has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Jeju Air Flight Accident Family Association to provide legal services.

On the 1st, the Gwangju Bar Association announced that it has formed a legal support team with over 80 local lawyers participating, and is continuing discussions on body recovery, funeral procedures, fact-finding, compensation, and damages.

Starting from this day, the legal support team is providing free legal assistance to the bereaved families related to the Jeju Air flight disaster.

Specifically, the victims are advising and supporting the administrative affairs of the Family Association, and a legal consultation booth has been set up on the second floor of the boarding building at Muan Airport to offer legal counseling to the bereaved families.

The legal support team plans to maintain the on-site booth at the airport as long as even a single bereaved family member wishing for legal counseling remains.

For bereaved families who have left the Muan Airport site, members of the legal support team in Gwangju, Mokpo, Suncheon, and other areas are providing both telephone and in-person consultations.

In addition, as hate speech against bereaved families and false or distorted reports about the disaster are becoming a reality on social media and portal sites, a separate distortion response team has been formed to collect evidence of such cases and prepare for active legal action, such as filing complaints or lawsuits in the future.
