[New Year's Address] Kim Daejung, Jeonnam Superintendent of Education: "The Start of a New Century in Education"

"Glocal Jeonnam Education: Local and Global Coexistence"

Kim Daejung, Superintendent of Education for Jeonnam, pledged on the 1st, "I will establish the fundamentals of education so that students can grow into glocal talents, and create 'Glocal Jeonnam Education' where the region and the world coexist."

In his New Year's address, Superintendent Kim stated, "This year, the Jeonnam Student Education Allowance will be expanded to provide 100,000 won per month to all elementary students in Jeonnam, and we will foster future talents with creativity and critical thinking based on reading and humanities education."

To achieve this, he promised to support schools with reading and humanities education programs tailored to students' needs and characteristics, and to promote the activation of region-led Glocal Reading and Humanities Schools. He also emphasized supporting the growth of talents with regional identity and glocal competitiveness through 'Jeonnam Ui (Righteousness)' education, and expanding the Coexistence Path (Waterway, Forest Path) Project student clubs to 350 teams to strengthen ecological sensitivity and ecological citizenship.

He said, "For the first time in the nation, we established a dedicated team for reading and humanities education and have firmly cultivated a culture of reading together," adding, "We have built an educational ecosystem through the Jeonnam Public-Private-Academic Education Cooperation Committee and the Coexistence Path Project, and 17 cities and counties, the largest number nationwide, have been selected as pilot areas for special educational development zones to support talent cultivation."

In addition, he promised to operate regional Glocal Education Centers for bilingual education, strengthen international exchanges based on Korean language education, and support student international exchange programs at all 22 education support offices.

Superintendent Kim also pledged, "We will accelerate the appointment of elementary teachers through the nation's first multicultural talent selection system, the Glocal New Industry Startup Experience Project, and the establishment of the (tentatively named) Jeonnam International Vocational High School," adding, "We will cultivate the core competencies required by future society in the 2030 classroom, leading K-Edu."
