Establishing the Foundation for a Self-Sufficient City Through Investment in Future Growth

Dear 190,000 beloved citizens of Guri-si! The eventful Year of the Dragon, Gapjin, has come to an end, and the Year of the Blue Snake, Eulsa, has dawned. Last year was very difficult and challenging. The economic environment both inside and outside the country was truly lacking, and the political environment was also very chaotic.

We took these crises as opportunities and, without yielding to anything, focused solely on the citizens, doing our best to create a "Joyful Change, Happier Guri-si."

As a result, among the 10 fields, 106 projects, and 142 tasks created together with 190,000 citizens, we implemented 100, achieving over 70% completion and keeping our promises to the citizens.

We were recognized externally by being selected as an excellent institution for 10 consecutive years in the comprehensive evaluation of 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi-do, and as the best institution for 6 consecutive years in the Ministry of Health and Welfare evaluation, among other accolades.

These achievements are thanks to the united efforts of over 1,000 public officials and the silent support of the citizens. I take this opportunity to encourage the public officials and express my gratitude to all citizens.

2025 is an important year to complete the vision and core projects of the 8th elected administration.

Therefore, we have set the 2025 vision as "The Fruit of Promises, Opening the Future of Guri-si," and established the following six major administrative directions to fulfill this promise.

First, laying the foundation for a self-sufficient city through investment in future growth.

Second, establishing a people-centered metropolitan transportation infrastructure and expanding parking facilities.

Third, building a livable economic city that restores vitality to small business owners.

Fourth, creating an inclusive welfare city filled with warmth in life.

Fifth, fostering a healthy and happy city with refined culture.

Sixth, developing a clean, stable, and sustainable eco-friendly city.

With the determination to complete these projects, we have chosen the New Year's motto as "Sinjong Yeosi (愼終如始)." This phrase, quoted from the Seongshim chapter of the Myeong-simbogam, means "to never relax the mind from beginning to end, just as at the start."

It is also a promise to build a Guri-si where every citizen enjoys a happy life and is guaranteed a hopeful future, based on the new growth engines secured over the past two years and six months.

The snake has long been regarded as a wise animal that does not yield even in adversity. This spirit is also the source of Guri-si's development and growth. Please watch over Guri-si's vigorous soaring. Happy New Year.
