Condolences for Victims of Jeju Air Disaster
Former President Lee Myung-bak (MB) paid a visit to the National Seoul Memorial Cemetery in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, on January 1, the first day of the new year.
The former president laid flowers and offered incense at the Memorial Tower. In the guestbook, he wrote, "I hope that in the new year, the country will be peaceful, and all of us will open our hearts, forgive each other, and have a hopeful year filled with love. I believe that God will protect this country." He also expressed condolences for the victims of the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster, writing, "Let us share the sorrow of losing loved ones together."
About 50 people accompanied him on the visit to the memorial, including former Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik, former lawmaker Lee Jae-oh, former Presidential Chief of Staff Ryu Woo-ik, and People Power Party lawmaker Na Kyung-won.
