The Korea Communications Commission announced on the 1st that Acting Chairman Kim Taegyu submitted his resignation at the Cabinet meeting.

On the day, the Commission stated, "Acting Chairman Kim has declared that he will faithfully perform his duties until his resignation is accepted."


Earlier, on the 31st of last month, Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister for Economy and Minister of Strategy and Finance Choi Sangmok announced the appointments of Constitutional Court Justice candidates Jeong Gyesun and Jo Hanchang during his opening remarks at the Cabinet meeting. Acting Chairman Kim submitted his resignation during the closed session of the Cabinet meeting that followed. This is interpreted as a protest against Acting President Choi's appointments to the Constitutional Court. Although the Chairman of the Communications Commission is not a Cabinet member, he is a public official who can attend Cabinet meetings.


Meanwhile, on the same day, senior presidential aides including Chief of Staff Jeong Jinseok, Policy Chief Seong Taeyun, National Security Office Chief Shin Wonsik, Foreign and Security Special Advisor Jang Hojin, and Senior Secretary also expressed their intention to resign to Acting President Choi.
