Gwangju City Introduces First 'Small Business Parenting Support Package' Gwangju City Hall exterior view.

Gwangju City announced on the 1st that it will implement the "Gwangju Small Business Parenting Support Package" this year as a new initiative, supporting childcare services for small business owners and substitute labor costs for single female self-employed individuals during pregnancy and childbirth.

The "Gwangju Small Business Parenting Support Package" is a project that provides "Small Business Childcare Service" and "Substitute Labor Costs for Single Female Self-Employed" to address care gaps caused by holidays and night-time operations of small businesses, as well as business management gaps due to pregnancy and childbirth among single female entrepreneurs.

The "Small Business Childcare Service" supports childcare service fees for small business owners and employees raising children aged 3 months to 12 years, up to a total of 3.6 million KRW for one child (600,000 KRW per month for 6 months) and up to a total of 5.4 million KRW for two children (900,000 KRW per month for 6 months).

Small business owners raising children can freely use services that suit their circumstances and needs, with support available for approximately 200 people.

The "Substitute Labor Cost Support for Single Female Self-Employed during Pregnancy and Childbirth" provides up to a total of 3 million KRW (1 million KRW per month for 3 months) for labor costs from pregnancy confirmation until six months after childbirth, with support available for 50 individuals.

Small business owners wishing to use the "Parenting Support Package" service can apply on the Gwangju iKium website by 6 p.m. on the 10th. The Gwangju Foundation for Women and Family will review eligibility and announce the recipients of the Gwangju Small Business Parenting Support Package in January (to be notified individually).

For more details, please refer to the announcement posted on the Gwangju City website (City News - Notices) and the Gwangju iKium website.

Lee Youngdong, Director of the Women and Family Bureau, said, "Gwangju City is focusing on implementing childcare services and low birthrate support measures that can provide practical help to parents and promote work-family balance," adding, "We will continue to create an environment where it is easier to have and raise children through demand-centered low birthrate policies."
