New Year's Message for January 1st
Former President Moon Jae-in said in his New Year's message on the 1st, "Let us share hope and comfort like the morning sun that drives away darkness."
On the same day, former President Moon wrote on Facebook, "It is difficult to estimate how much cost and aftereffects our people will have to bear in the future, but we will overcome them." He added, "Our people are strong. They will defeat evil and establish justice, and keep sorrow as a lesson in safety," and said, "History is always on the side of the people."
Former President Moon said, "(Last year) was truly a painful and difficult year," adding, "We welcome the new year amid the sudden pain caused by the politics of delusion and madness and the profound sorrow from the aircraft disaster."
Former President Moon added, "There has never been a time as earnest as this year to say 'Happy New Year.' Let us all be healthy in body and mind."
