Gyeonggi Province is introducing artificial intelligence (AI) and big data technology for the first time in Korea to the Child Meal Support Platform (Ssiat Bapsang).
The platform, developed independently by Gyeonggi Province in 2022, is a system that allows children receiving meal support through the Child Meal Card to order food contactlessly via the public delivery app ‘Baedal Teukgeup’.
This year, Gyeonggi Province plans to invest 1 billion KRW to advance the platform and also support local child care centers that provide child meals.
With an AI-based system, the platform will recognize purchase receipts for meal ingredients at centers, automating all processes including transaction analysis, detection of abnormal transactions, expenditure verification, and confirmation of the number of diners linked with the center’s attendance system.

This will improve the work efficiency of center administrators as well as the accuracy of budget execution.
Additionally, through meal nutrition analysis and menu recommendations, the platform will enable the provision of balanced meals tailored to the health of children at each center.
Fraudulent use such as late-night transactions on the Child Meal Card or use at inappropriate merchants can also be automatically identified in real time through AI-based monitoring.
Until now, there was inconvenience in relying on reports or extracting suspicious details one by one to verify fraudulent use.
The platform will also add a feature for anonymous and comfortable consultation through an AI counselor and chatbot.
