Securing 300 Million Won in Special Grant Tax
Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province announced on the 31st that it has been selected as an excellent institution in the "2024 Local Public Institution Structural Reform Local Government Evaluation" organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
This evaluation is part of the local public institution innovation initiative, with structural reform implementation and inspection being promoted since 2023. To continuously expand and encourage these efforts, the evaluation for selecting outstanding local governments was conducted again this year following last year.
Among the 118 local governments (17 metropolitan, 101 basic) that promoted structural reform this year, 6 metropolitan and 8 basic local governments were selected as excellent through external evaluation, based on criteria such as participation in national policies, appropriateness of planning, performance compared to innovation plans, and expected effects.
Jeonbuk Province, which secured a special grant tax of 300 million won, has 16 local public institutions, fewer than the average of 18 in other provinces and cities. However, it received high marks for achieving efficient division of roles without functional overlap among institutions.
In particular, the focus on functional efficiency of each institution rather than simple physical integration was recognized as an outstanding achievement.
In 2023, Jeonbuk Province conducted an organizational diagnosis of its 16 affiliated public institutions, identifying a total of 180 improvement tasks in areas such as organization, personnel, finance, and compensation.
Based on this, full-scale improvement efforts have been pursued since this year, accelerating innovation so that public institutions can focus on their core roles. These efforts have contributed to improving the operational efficiency of public institutions and strengthening customized administrative services for residents.
Choi Byungkwan, Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs of Jeonbuk Province, said, "Being selected as an excellent institution is the result of our public institutions working together for organizational innovation," and added, "We will continue to discover and implement reform tasks to further enhance the quality of administrative services."
