The families criticized, "The government authorities promised to install refrigerated vehicles and freezers to prevent the remains from decomposing and being damaged," but "the promised refrigeration facilities have not yet been completed."

Park Han-shin, a representative of the bereaved families, said, "Government officials only offer comforting words to appease the families but do not keep their promises," adding, "The political sphere and the media need to support the families."

Earlier, the police and fire authorities placed the recovered remains in a temporary storage facility inside the hangar at Muan Airport. The recovery authorities are verifying the identities of the deceased, but due to the severe damage to the bodies, it is expected to take several days before they can be handed over to the families. As of this day, 141 of the 179 total victims have been identified through fingerprint comparison and other methods.
